This will be a major event for family medicine and we hope you will be able to join us in person for the launch. As a reminder, the purpose of this effort was to develop a multi-year strategic plan and communications program to address the role of family medicine in the changing health care landscape. Health is Primary partners with America’s Health Rankings® to release new reportSpotlight: Impact of Unhealthy Behaviors. The report examined five “unhealthy behaviors” – smoking, excessive drinking, insufficient sleep, physical inactivity, obesity – and found that more than 25 million American adults report having multiple unhealthy behaviors (three or more) and, as a result, face more than 6 times greater risk of fair or poor health status than those reporting zero unhealthy behaviors. Next Stop on City Tour: Chicago. The next Health is Primary city tour will be in Chicago on Tuesday, May 19. The Chicago city tour will bring together local experts to discuss market-specific initiatives and new models of care that are improving patient and community health. There will be a focus group discussion following the Health is Primary event for members of the family medicine community to discuss how to incorporate the FMAHealth strategies and tactics into the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians’ strategic plan. In the evening, there will be an interactive panel discussion focusing on how students and residents can get engaged in implementing the FMAHealth strategic plan.

It was a quick start to 2015! Health is Primary kicked off the New Year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES15), the world’s premiere technology trade show, in Las Vegas. The campaign hosted a panel discussion on consumer health technology from the family physician perspective.

First City Tour Coming Soon. Health is Primary will host its inaugural city tour at the Raleigh Convention Center on February 26. The campaign will showcase initiatives that are improving primary care and delivering on the Triple Aim of better care and better quality at a lower cost. Wrapping Up An Eventful Year. The Health is Primary campaign is wrapping up its first full year of activities focused on raising awareness of the value of primary care in delivering on the Triple Aim of better care and better quality at a lower cost. During the past year, the campaign has featured extraordinary stories of primary care innovation and transformation in five cities: Seattle, Raleigh, Chicago, Denver and Detroit. We have collected dozens of local stories showcasing the rapidly changing world of primary care and we are always looking for more stories that show measurable results improving health, quality and cost.
