The Family Medicine for America’s Health (FMAHealth) Health Equity Team and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) are excited to announce the development of a jointly sponsored inaugural Health Equity Fellowship program launching this fall. Two fellows will be selected to participate in a 12-month health equity fellowship aimed at developing family medicine physicians as leaders with subject matter expertise in the social, institutional and cultural influences that impact health. At the completion of the fellowship, participants will be looked to as Family Medicine leaders capable of impacting change in their local communities and primary care.
The program is designed to assist the Fellows in gaining the knowledge and experience needed to translate the concepts of health equity into clinical practice. The Fellows will learn from leading experts in Medical Education, Research, Public Health, and Healthcare Policy – and with mentor support, will complete a capstone project by the end of the fellowship year to demonstrate learning objectives.
